AppBacked / FAQ

Fair questions.
Straight answers.

The things we'd ask before letting someone touch our app, answered before you have to. Missing one? [email protected].

01 The deal

How it works.

What's the catch?

We take half of the revenue above your baseline, for 24 months. That's it. If nothing rises above the line, we get nothing, and we've spent our own money finding that out.

Do you send me money?

No. Our budget goes straight into growing your app: ads, creatives, store pages and paywall work. You never receive it and you never repay it.

How big is the budget?

Up to six times your monthly net revenue to start, from $5,000. We spend it in steps: a test month first, then more only where it pays back. Apps that keep paying back can get more.

How is the baseline set?

Your average net store revenue over the three full months before we start. Everything up to that line stays yours. If a month comes in below it, our share that month is zero.

What happens after 24 months?

We step away. All revenue is yours again, including from every user we paid to bring in. The ad accounts and creatives are already in your name.

Can I end it early?

Yes. After the test month either side can walk away and nobody owes anything. Later, you can buy out our share at any time for an amount agreed in the contract.

02 Money

When things change.

What if it doesn't work?

We stop spending on anything that doesn't pay back. If your revenue never rises above the line, we get nothing and the money we spent is our loss.

What if my revenue drops for reasons outside our work?

Then there's nothing above the line and our share is zero. You never pay us out of the revenue you already had.

What counts as net store revenue?

What Apple or Google actually pays out for your app, after their commission, refunds and taxes they withhold. If your app also sells on the web, we agree upfront how that's counted.

How do you get paid?

Once a month, after your store payout lands, from the revenue above the line. Bigger budgets can run through our publisher account so it settles automatically.

Are there fees?

No. No setup fee, no retainer, no media markup. The 50/50 split on growth is the whole price.

03 Your app

It stays yours.

Do I give up ownership or equity?

No. Your company, code, brand, users and IP stay yours. We never take equity or a board seat.

Who decides what ships?

You do. We propose store pages, paywalls and prices; you approve before anything goes live.

Who owns the ad accounts and creatives?

You. We build them in your name and fund them directly. When we step away, they stay with you.

Which apps are a fit?

Live on the App Store or Google Play, with subscriptions, in-app purchases or ads already working, from $1,000 a month and six months of history. Utilities, health, productivity, education, photo, finance and more. Not a fit: hypercasual games and apps without monetization.

Can I sell my app during the term?

Yes, if you tell us first. Our share for the rest of the term is settled from the sale, as agreed in the contract.

04 Data and trust

What we see.

What does the X-ray look at?

Only your public store page: languages, screenshots, update history, ratings and price. It's a first look, not a verdict. The real plan comes from your reports.

What access do you need?

Read-only revenue reports: an App Store Connect API key with the Finance role, or Play Console financial reports. Plus access to the ad accounts we run for you. Never your Apple or Google password.

What happens to my data?

We use it to plan and run your growth, under NDA. We never share it or sell it. See the privacy policy.

Are the numbers on this site an offer?

No. The calculator is an illustrative model. Your real budget and plan follow a look at your reports and are binding only once both sides sign.

05 About us

Who you're dealing with.

Who is behind AppBacked?

A team that builds, markets and monetizes its own subscription apps and app-marketing tools. We back what we know how to grow. Meet us on the about page.

Why would you bet your money on my app?

Because most apps leave growth on the table: an untranslated store page, a weak paywall, no tested creatives. Fixing that is what we do every day, and half of the growth above your line is a good business for us.

Still deciding? X-ray your app.
