Apple accepts more than thirty screenshot sizes, but you only need to design two or three of them. App Store Connect scales the rest down for older and smaller devices. Here is the full list, checked against Apple's specification page, and the short list worth designing.
The short answer
iPhone: design at 1320 × 2868 px (the largest Dynamic Island size) and also export 1206 × 2622 px, because Apple's list of required sizes asks for at least one Dynamic Island (medium display) screenshot.
iPad: if your app runs on iPad, upload 2064 × 2752 px or 2048 × 2732 px. Smaller iPads use scaled versions.
Everything: PNG or JPEG, no transparency, 1 to 10 screenshots per device size.
If your interface looks the same across sizes and languages, Apple says the highest required resolution is enough and it will scale it down. Upload the smaller sizes yourself only when the layout really changes, for example when text would get too small to read.
iPhone screenshot sizes
Apple groups iPhones into display classes. Each class accepts a few exact pixel sizes, and if you skip a class, the App Store fills it with scaled screenshots from a neighboring one. Highlighted rows are the ones we recommend uploading.
| Display class | Portrait (px) | Landscape (px) | Typical devices |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dynamic Island, large | 1320 × 2868 | 2868 × 1320 | 6.9-inch Pro Max models |
| Dynamic Island, large | 1290 × 2796 | 2796 × 1290 | 6.7-inch Pro Max and Plus models |
| Dynamic Island, large | 1260 × 2736 | 2736 × 1260 | iPhone Air |
| Face ID, large | 1284 × 2778 | 2778 × 1284 | iPhone 12–13 Pro Max, 14 Plus |
| Face ID, large | 1242 × 2688 | 2688 × 1242 | iPhone XS Max, 11 Pro Max |
| Dynamic Island, medium | 1206 × 2622 | 2622 × 1206 | 6.3-inch models |
| Dynamic Island, medium | 1179 × 2556 | 2556 × 1179 | 6.1-inch models with Dynamic Island |
| Face ID, medium | 1170 × 2532 | 2532 × 1170 | 6.1-inch, iPhone 12–14 |
| Face ID, medium | 1125 × 2436 | 2436 × 1125 | 5.8-inch, iPhone X, XS, 11 Pro |
| Face ID, medium | 1080 × 2340 | 2340 × 1080 | 5.4-inch mini models |
| Home Button, large | 1242 × 2208 | 2208 × 1242 | 5.5-inch Plus models |
| Home Button, medium | 750 × 1334 | 1334 × 750 | 4.7-inch, iPhone SE and 8 |
| Home Button, 4" | 640 × 1136 | 1136 × 640 | 4-inch, iPhone SE (1st gen) |
| Home Button, 3.5" | 640 × 960 | 960 × 640 | 3.5-inch, iPhone 4s |
The 4-inch and 3.5-inch classes also accept versions without the status bar (640 × 1096 and 640 × 920 in portrait). The device column is our shorthand; Apple's page lists display classes, not models.
How the fallbacks work
Apple's notes chain the classes together. If you don't provide Dynamic Island (large) screenshots, the App Store uses scaled Face ID (large) ones, and the other way round. Medium classes fall back to larger ones, and the Home Button classes fall back step by step down to the 3.5-inch display. That is why one large set plus the required medium set covers every iPhone.
iPhone Duo screenshot sizes
Apple has added a class for iPhone Duo with two displays, each with its own size:
| Display | Portrait (px) | Landscape (px) |
|---|---|---|
| Outer display | 1398 × 2034 | 2034 × 1398 |
| Inner display | 2007 × 2853 | 2853 × 2007 |
Two things matter. From April 2027, Apple will require iPhone Duo screenshots for any app built with the iOS 27.1 SDK or later. And apps that submit them get a badge on their product page saying they are optimized for iPhone Duo. The badge is a reason to do it early: a badge next to a competitor without one is free conversion.

iPad screenshot sizes
If your app runs on iPad, Apple requires 13-inch screenshots. Every smaller iPad class falls back to scaled 13-inch or 12.9-inch screenshots.
| Display class | Portrait (px) | Landscape (px) | If missing |
|---|---|---|---|
| 13-inch | 2064 × 2752 | 2752 × 2064 | Required if the app runs on iPad |
| 13-inch | 2048 × 2732 | 2732 × 2048 | Required if the app runs on iPad |
| 12.9-inch | 2048 × 2732 | 2732 × 2048 | Uses 13-inch |
| 11-inch | 1668 × 2420 | 2420 × 1668 | Uses 13-inch |
| 11-inch | 1668 × 2388 | 2388 × 1668 | Uses 13-inch |
| 11-inch | 1640 × 2360 | 2360 × 1640 | Uses 13-inch |
| 11-inch | 1488 × 2266 | 2266 × 1488 | Uses 13-inch |
| 10.5-inch | 1668 × 2224 | 2224 × 1668 | Uses 12.9-inch |
| 9.7-inch | 1536 × 2048 | 2048 × 1536 | Uses 10.5-inch |
| 9.7-inch | 768 × 1024 | 1024 × 768 | Uses 10.5-inch |
Don't stretch iPhone frames onto an iPad canvas. iPad shoppers compare against apps that show a real two-column layout, and a phone screenshot floating in empty space looks like an afterthought.
Mac, Apple TV, Vision Pro and Apple Watch
| Platform | Accepted sizes (px) |
|---|---|
| Mac (16:10) | 1280 × 800 · 1440 × 900 · 2560 × 1600 · 2880 × 1800 |
| Apple TV | 1920 × 1080 · 3840 × 2160 |
| Apple Vision Pro | 3840 × 2160 |
| Apple Watch Ultra 4, Ultra 3 | 422 × 514 |
| Apple Watch Ultra 2, Ultra | 410 × 502 |
| Apple Watch Series 10–12 | 416 × 496 |
| Apple Watch Series 7–9 | 396 × 484 |
| Apple Watch Series 4–6, SE | 368 × 448 |
| Apple Watch Series 1–3 | 312 × 390 |
Each of these is required only if your app ships on that platform. For Apple Watch, Apple asks you to use the same screenshot size in every localization.
File rules
- Formats: .png, .jpg or .jpeg.
- No transparency: images can't include an alpha channel. Export PNGs flattened, without alpha.
- How many: at least 1 and up to 10 per device size, per localization.
- Exact pixels: the upload is rejected if the size is off by even one pixel. Export at exactly the sizes above.
- Review rules apply: screenshots must follow the App Review Guidelines, so show the app in use, not only marketing art.
App preview video specs
App previews are short videos that play before the screenshots. They are optional, but on a crowded results page motion catches the eye.
- Count: up to 3 per device size and language.
- Length: 15 to 30 seconds. The default poster frame is at 5 seconds.
- File: up to 500 MB, H.264 (.mov, .m4v, .mp4) or ProRes 422 HQ (.mov), up to 30 fps.
- Resolution: 886 × 1920 portrait for all current iPhone classes, 1200 × 1600 for iPads from 10.5 to 13 inches, 1920 × 1080 for Mac and Apple TV, 3840 × 2160 for Apple Vision Pro.
Note that previews use their own accepted resolutions, which are not the screen resolutions. A 1320 × 2868 screen recording has to be scaled to 886 × 1920 before upload.
Google Play screenshot sizes
Google Play is more flexible on pixels and stricter on ratios:
| Asset | Rule |
|---|---|
| Screenshots | JPEG or 24-bit PNG without alpha. Each side between 320 and 3,840 px, and the long side no more than twice the short side. Up to 8 per device type, at least 2 in total to publish. |
| To be eligible for promotion | Apps: at least 4 screenshots, minimum 1080 px, 9:16 portrait (1080 × 1920 or larger) or 16:9 landscape. Games: at least 3, in 16:9 or 9:16. |
| Tablets and Chromebooks | At least 4 screenshots, 1,080 to 7,680 px, 16:9 or 9:16. |
| Feature graphic | 1024 × 500, JPEG or 24-bit PNG |
| App icon | 512 × 512, 32-bit PNG, up to 1024 KB |
| Preview video | A public or unlisted YouTube link with ads turned off. Only the first 30 seconds autoplay. |
A 1320 × 2868 iPhone frame is about 9:19.5, which Google Play accepts but which isn't the 9:16 it asks for promotion eligibility. Re-lay your frames on a 1080 × 1920 canvas instead of reusing the iPhone files.
The 10-frame playbook
Sizes get you through review. The order of the frames decides the install. In search results people see only the first frames, and many never open the gallery, so we plan the slots like this:
- The outcome. What life looks like with the app, in five words or fewer. Not the logo, not “Welcome”.
- The main feature people pay for, shown in use.
- Proof: a rating, an award, a number of users, a press quote. Only real ones.
- Frames 4 to 7: one feature per frame, each answering a question people ask in reviews.
- Frame 8: what's free and what's paid, so trial users aren't surprised.
- Frames 9 and 10: integrations, widgets, platforms, privacy.
Then localize the captions for every language you sell in, and test the first three frames with Product Page Optimization before you redesign the rest. That is why the first frame is the first thing we test.
FAQ
What is the App Store screenshot size for iPhone in 2026?
Design at 1320 × 2868 px, the largest Dynamic Island size, and also export 1206 × 2622 px, because Apple's required list asks for at least one Dynamic Island (medium display) screenshot. The App Store scales these for every other iPhone.
Do I still need 6.5-inch screenshots?
Only if you don't upload Dynamic Island (large) screenshots. Apple marks the Face ID (large) class, which covers 1284 × 2778 and 1242 × 2688, as required when the Dynamic Island (large) set is missing.
What is the iPad screenshot size for the App Store?
2064 × 2752 px or 2048 × 2732 px for the 13-inch class, which Apple requires if your app runs on iPad. Smaller iPads use scaled versions.
How many screenshots can I upload to the App Store?
Up to 10 per device size and localization, and at least one. Google Play allows up to 8 per device type.
Can App Store screenshots have transparent backgrounds?
No. Apple rejects images with an alpha channel. Export flattened PNG or JPEG files.
